Water Research Bhutan is an informal scientific society focusing on the promotion of research & management of water in Bhutan. The group was started in August 2021, & has a current membership of scientists, managers, engineers, teachers & university students, as well as international members. The group strives to advance freshwater science by fostering the interdisciplinary exchange of scientific information among professionals, practitioners, & the public.​

Background

 

 

The objective of WRB is to advance freshwater science and its understanding through fostering the interdisciplinary exchange of scientific information among its members, as well as more broadly to other professional societies, agencies, governments & the general public. In formal communications, this may be represented by the byline “Research for management and understanding of Bhutan’s Freshwater ecosystems”.

Goal

 

Publish a monthly technical article on issues related to freshwater & associated ecosystem, biodiversity, & hydrogeology.

 

Provide guidance to young researchers in the field of freshwater-related studies & offer reviewing services.

 

Offer services in setting up linkages among freshwater researchers & scientists within and outside Bhutan

Management

 

The WRB shall be managed by an Executive Committee of the founding members consisting of the President, the Secretary, and the founding members.

Any decision of the society shall be made by voting by show of hands, with an affirmation by a majority of Executive Committee members in attendance.

Topics for the Upcoming Publications 

The team is currently working on investigating the water quality of roof-harvested rainwater in Bhutan to be published by Mar. 2024.
